It’s a beautiful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the cities to soak in some amazing views and vibes of the Sonoran Desert. This road trip was a spur-of-the-moment thing for us, so we decided to go with the flow and accordingly engage ourselves for rest of the day.
We started early in the morning from Irvine, CA towards Palm Springs Since, it was a weekend we had already made up our mind about the traffic situation. It wasn’t that bad after we crossed Riverside. We took a few stops in between where we saw windmills and finally made our way to the visitor center at palm springs. Where we asked and inquire about a few places and asked for some suggestions and recommendations around that area.
So, the very first thing we signed up for the day was Palm Springs Aerial Tramway which is the world’s largest rotating tramcar that leads to Mt San Jacinto State Park. The views of the valley floor are just so unreal. The Tram goes through the Chino Canyon and the cliffs are just top-notch. (It’s a personal thing when I entered the tram I did not get a perfect spot to stand in order to view those amazing vistas but I realized once the tram started that it revolves! yay. So, do not worry at all cause you will be witnessing all the vistas from your spot, and don’t have to go to another side of the tram or feel sad about not getting the right spot).
After we reached the top where the elevation is about 8,516 feet we roamed around for a while. We had our brunch at a restaurant with of course a view. There is an observation deck that faces towards the valley where you can see boards about the San Andreas Fault line. It is a spectacular place to view the desert city which looks so tiny! If you are lucky you can even view the Salton Sea with facts mentioned on the boards.
After a while, we headed toward going on a hike since we had time for just one. We took the Desert View Trail which was an easy hike with surreal vista points along the way. oh! don’t forget to sniff jeff( Jeffery pine tree). I still remember the smell of vanilla and the butterscotch aroma of the bark. It’s interesting though!
After the hike, we made our way to downtown Palm Springs. We parked our vehicle in a public parking lot which was free and finally to went to have pizza at Bill’s Pizza which was amazing, though we had to wait a bit longer because of rush hour, it was worth the wait. Later, we decided to take a walk along the downtown area where I spotted the statue of Marilyn Monroe called the Forever Marilyn. It’s Palm Springs obviously, we craved to have something cold considering the temperature and our energy draining out. We went to Lappert’s Ultra Premium Ice Cream and tried out smoothies which were so delicious and much-needed drinks at that time. We were totally charged afterward and continued randomly strolling around the city and figuring out so many museums and places that are there to visit, which we will do eventually on our trip to Palm Springs. ( I will keep updating the blog or write different blogs to include all other places eventually). At Around 4 PM we started heading back to Irvine but during the sunset, we took a break at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets because we wanted to spend the transition hour resting having a cup of coffee.
